CHIANG RAI, 6 JUNE 2025 – “Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah SWT as today the delegation from the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) Headquarters had the opportunity to break fast on the Sunnah Arafah Day with 129 orphans, new converts and underprivileged students of As-Siddiqin Foundation,” said Dato’ Haji Razali.

YBhg Dato’ Haji Razali Haji Shahabudin,
fondly known as Dato’ Razali and also the Senior Director of Dakwah at PERKIM Headquarters, stated that this visit was held in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration and is part of the PERKIM 2025 Dakwah and Qurban Mission from 6 to 11 June 2025.

The programme was carried out in collaboration with the Pertubuhan Muslim Sejahtera Malaysia (Muszleem Malaysia) and Jom Buat Baik, aimed at reaching out to the Muslim community in Chiang Rai and strengthening ties with Malaysian welfare institutions.

According to Dato’ Razali, upon arrival at Mae Fah Luang International Airport, Chiang Rai, the PERKIM delegation was welcomed by Jom Buat Baik founder, Ustaz Azatul Ridzuan Hassan.

They later performed their prayers at Masjid Darulaman, located in Wiang, Mueang Chiang Rai district.

Dato’ Razali explained that Masjid Darulaman, also known as Masjid Ban Haw, is the main mosque for the local Sunni Muslim community, especially among the Chin Haw – Muslims of Hui descent from Yunnan, China. Historically, the mosque was built between 1907 and 1910 by eleven Muslim founders from China.

The breaking fast session with the students of As-Siddiqin Foundation was filled with a spirit of brotherhood, with dishes such as mutton curry, roti canai and bone soup served to guests and students.

Commenting on the Sunnah fasting of Arafah Day, Dato’ Razali stressed that it is a tremendous virtue for Muslims.

Among the virtues is the expiation of sins for two years, as narrated in a hadith by Muslim which means: “Fasting on the day of Arafah, I hope from Allah it will expiate sins of the previous year and the coming year.”

He further mentioned that this is the third consecutive year that PERKIM and its partner organisations have collaborated with the students of As-Siddiqin Foundation for this annual programme in conjunction with Hari Raya Qurban.

Also present were PERKIM National’s Dakwah and Human Development Officer, Ustaz Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah; PERKIM National Finance Officer, Mohd Aizat Rosli and PERKIM Volunteer, YBhg Dr Ruslan Said.

He added that such events indirectly strengthen the bond between PERKIM and the students of Yayasan As-Siddiqin, while providing a platform to exchange views and discuss issues concerning the Muslim community, especially orphans, reverts and the less fortunate.

After the breaking of fast, the delegation performed Maghrib prayers in congregation and joined in the Takbir recitation for Hari Raya Aidiladha at Masjid As-Siddiqin with the local community.

Also present at the programme were the Principal of As-Siddiqin Foundation, Ustaz Usman Che Mat, and Co-Administrator of As-Siddiqin Foundation, Roski Abdul Rahman.
