CHIANG RAI, 7 JUNE 2025 – A sense of gratitude and reflection filled the air as the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) Headquarters celebrated Eid al-Adha with the children of As-Siddiqin Foundation in Mae Pao, Phaya Mengrai, near here.

According to PERKIM Headquarter’s Senior Director of Dakwah, YBhg Dato’ Haji Razali Haji Shahabudin, more than 400 attendees gathered for the Eid al-Adha congregational prayer and to witness the highlight of the event – the Qurban and dakwah journey.

The Eid al-Adha prayer was held in the compound of As-Siddiqin Foundation at 8:30 AM and was led by Ustaz Abdul Haziq Yahya, a teacher at the foundation.

Dato’ Razali stated that the over 400 participants comprised orphans, new Muslims, parents, villagers, rubber tappers, Tabligh members, volunteers, and contributors from various places who came together to honour this sacred Islamic occasion.

It was noted that most of the children at As-Siddiqin Foundation hail from the mountainous areas of Chiang Rai, particularly from the Akka, Mong, and other ethnic groups.

Following the prayer, As-Siddiqin Foundation’s Co-Founder, Ustaz Yusuf Wanngoh, delivered the Eid al-Adha sermon titled “The Wisdom Behind Prophet Ibrahim AS’s Sacrifice.”

In his sermon, Ustaz Yusuf portrayed the extraordinary faith of Prophet Ibrahim AS, who was willing to sacrifice his beloved son, Prophet Ismail AS, as a testament of complete submission to Allah’s command.

He emphasised that true sacrifice goes beyond animal slaughter – it is about surrendering one’s entire being to Allah with full reliance and devotion.

“We must ask ourselves, what have we sacrificed for the religion? Time, energy, wealth, and even comfort – all will be questioned one day,” Ustaz Yusuf stressed.

The audience listened with deep humility and some were moved to tears, reflecting on the real essence of sacrifice.

After the sermon, Ustaz Yusuf engaged in dakwah with several family members of the children at As-Siddiqin Foundation.

By Allah’s will, two of them embraced Islam by reciting the syahadah, followed by another, and subsequently others in stages.

“A total of 11 people embraced Islam yesterday evening, and today, seven more received His guidance, making it 18 new Muslims during this blessed Eid al-Adha celebration,” said Ustaz Yusuf Wanngoh.

The festive atmosphere was further brightened by the presence of a generous donor, a Mongthong durian entrepreneur who contributed cash, food, snacks, fruits, and various necessities.

The children of As-Siddiqin Foundation were seen joyfully playing and celebrating with their families who came from different regions to visit them.

The programme, supported by the Group FB Jom Buat Baik group and Pertubuhan Muslim Sejahtera Malaysia (Muszleem Malaysia), continued with the Qurban ritual, involving the slaughter of six cows and 44 goats, all of which were distributed to the local Muslim community.

Two cows were slaughtered by PERKIM Volunteer, YBhg Dr Ruslan Said at As-Siddiqin Foundation, while the rest were processed at the Sansaad Cattle Processing Centre in Phaya Mengrai by the As-Siddiqin Foundation’s Co-Administrator , Roski Abdul Rahman.

The cattle were gently brought down using rope-guided control techniques and calmed before being slaughtered in accordance with Islamic guidelines.

Post-slaughter, the meat was jointly processed by volunteers and staff through a gotong-royong (communal work) effort.

The sacrificed meat was brought back to As-Siddiqin As-Siddiqin for proper distribution by PERKIM National’s Dakwah and Human Development Officer, Ustaz Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah, to over 130 families of rubber tappers.

Besides rubber tapping, the local Muslim community earns their livelihood through paddy farming, as well as cultivating mangoes, longan, lychees, bananas, and other crops.

While waiting for the meat to be processed and cooked, the As-Siddiqin Foundation’s Principal, Ustaz Usman Che Mat, delivered a tazkirah titled “The Guidance of Islam” to non-Muslim family members.

Dato’ Razali also shared that each asnaf, convert, and local Muslim family received their share of Qurban meat to take home as a symbol of sustenance and brotherhood among the ummah.

He added that this third-time Eid al-Adha celebration in Chiang Rai was not merely a religious ritual, but a manifestation of unity, sacrifice, and dakwah that has deeply touched the entire community in northern Thailand.

Also present were Jom Buat Baik Facebook Group Founder, Ustaz Azatul Ridzuan Hassan, and PERKIM National’s Finance Officer, Mohd Aizat Rosli.
