KUALA LUMPUR, 15 MARCH 2024 – On this blessed day, five Philippino ladies reverted to Islam, shedding tears of joy after their “syahadah”.
About fifty people attended the ceremony, among them were staff of PERKIM, new reverts and “Tadarus Al-Quran” members. The five ladies were accompanied by Ustazah Siti Muniral Sayed Mohd Hamdan, an officer of the Dakwah & Human Development Unit.
Prior to the conversion ceremony, Ustaz Sulaiman Ding Yu Zhong delivered information about Islam – the Pillars of Faith. The Principles of Iman, the dos and don”ts for Muslims in English.
The ladies, Layla Dela Cruz, 31; Maya Culanag, 37; Fatimah Lanilyn, 38; Aliyah Telyn, 47 dan Aminah Morillo Abdullah, 47 then declared their “syahadah” in Arabic followed by the English version.
They were guided by PERKIM’s Honarary Treasurer, Dato’ Haji Abdul Hanif Harun, Senior Director of Da’wah PERKIM, Dato’ Haji Razali Haji Shahabudin; PERKIM’s Executive Secretary, Zulkefli Arifin; Officers of Da’wah and Human Development Unit, Ustaz Sulaiman Ding and Ustazah Siti Munirah Sayed Mohd Hamdan.
These five ladies had long wished to revert to Islam, when they witnessed the exemplary behaviour of their employers. It was the ex-Secretary of PERKIM, Haji Yaakob Lazim who directed them to PERKIM. The five are close friends who work as maids and house cleaners.
They were each presented with a kit containing a Quran, a book to guide them in Islamic practices, a prayer mat and prayer clothes. There were warm welcoming hugs and congratulations.
The event closed with a “dua” of thanks led by Ustaz Sulaiman Ding.
Other staff present at the event were Puan Hamidah Ismail, Puan Fatin Hamizah Ismail and Ustaz Muhammad Jais Mariappan Abdullah.
The five Philippinos attentively listened to Islamic input.
