KUALA LUMPUR, 29 AUGUST 2025 – After 18 years of heartfelt anticipation, the prayers of Tee Ching Guan’s elder brother and sister were finally answered by Allah SWT when he sincerely embraced Islam on this blessed Friday afternoon.

The solemn conversion ceremony took place at the Headquarters of the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM), PERKIM Building, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, in the presence of Ustaz Sulaiman Ding Yu Zhong, Officer of the PERKIM National Dakwah and Islamic Development Unit (UDPI).

The recitation of the two declarations of faith (syahadah) was also witnessed by his elder brother, Ustaz Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah, who is an officer of PERKIM’s UDPI and Ustaz Amran Anbarasu Abdullah, a national missionary of PERKIM.

Farhan was visibly emotional upon hearing his younger brother’s intention to return to the natural state of faith.

Being the eldest among six siblings, Farhan shared that he had never ceased praying for his youngest brother to receive divine guidance.

“I am grateful to Allah that this long-awaited moment has finally come to pass with such joy. Our entire family prays that my youngest brother will remain steadfast in his new faith,” he expressed with deep emotion.

After pronouncing the syahadah, 36-year-old Tee Ching Guan chose the Islamic name Muhammad Adam Tee Abdullah.

In an interview, he explained that his decision was driven by a deep interest in Islam, coupled with the exemplary character of his family members who had embraced the faith earlier.

He also acknowledged the encouragement from friends who had motivated him to take this step.

“I have seen how they transformed into better individuals after embracing Islam. That gave me the confidence to make this choice,” said Adam Tee.

Interestingly, as the ceremony unfolded, heavy rain poured down as though symbolising divine blessings upon the occasion.

Among those present to offer moral support were his sister, Nurul Izzah Tee Abdullah, and her husband, Zam Zaini, who were overcome with tears of joy.

Having embraced Islam earlier, Nurul Izzah said: “This is the moment we have been waiting for all these years. May Adam Tee remain strong in facing the challenges ahead as a Muslim.”

Immediately after reciting the two sacred declarations, Farhan hugged his brother tightly, congratulating him on returning to the religion of fitrah and becoming a Muslim.

Following the declaration, Ustaz Sulaiman provided a brief introduction to the Rukun Iman (Articles of Faith), Rukun Islam (Pillars of Islam), the concept of halal and haram, as well as the responsibilities of a Muslim.

He advised Adam Tee to gradually deepen his knowledge of Islam through PERKIM’s guidance and to actively attend religious classes.

Adam Tee is also the nephew of PERKIM Deputy President, YBhg. Dr Ridhuan Tee Abdullah.

The modest yet meaningful ceremony concluded with a prayer of gratitude.

Prior to that, Adam Tee completed the official conversion registration form by signing and affixing his thumbprint.

He was also presented with a conversion gift bag sponsored by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), which included essential items for Islamic worship such as a copy of the Qur’an, prayer mat, Fardu Ain book, prayer guide, Iqra’, kopiah and prayer beads.

This initiative aims to provide practical guidance as he embarks on his new life as a Muslim.

The attendees prayed for Adam Tee to remain steadfast and be granted ease in learning and practising Islam.

PERKIM has also assured that continued guidance and support will be extended to help him adjust to his new life as a Muslim.
