KUALA LUMPUR, 25 AUGUST 2025 – “The responsibility of dakwah is a great trust from Allah SWT that demands sincerity, commitment, and wisdom in its implementation.”

This was the emphasis delivered by the Honorary Secretary-General of the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM), YBhg Dato’ Dr Haji Mohamad Marzuki Mohamad Omar, in his keynote address during the Meeting with PERKIM National Officers and Staff as well as State Branch Representatives held at the Level 1 Seminar Hall, PERKIM Building, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, here on Monday morning.
The gathering, which saw the attendance of more than 60 participants, comprised officers and staff from PERKIM National, PERKIM State Branches throughout Malaysia, the International Dakwah Institute of PERKIM Kuala Lumpur (IDIP-KL), the Islamic Dakwah Institute of PERKIM Kota Bharu (IDIP-KB), and the PERKIM Stroke Community Rehabilitation Centre (SCORE).
The programme commenced with welcoming remarks by Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah, Officer of the Dakwah and Human Development Unit of PERKIM National, followed by the singing of the national anthem Negaraku and PERKIM’s theme song Pacu Kemajuan, and a doa recitation led by Abdul Qawi Navine Abdullah, Assistant Dakwah Officer of IDIP-KL.
In his address, Dato’ Dr Marzuki expressed gratitude to Allah SWT for the opportunity to gather and extended appreciation to all members who contributed to the success of the meeting.
“Dakwah is a trust that we must uphold with utmost sincerity. We are not only delivering the message of Islam to society, but we are also viewed as an example by neighbouring countries.
Malaysia is now regarded as the ‘big brother’ in the regional dakwah sphere,” he emphasised.
He also shared his experience attending a programme in Sabah organised by the Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP), which brought together thousands of participants, including representatives from 13 countries. He expressed confidence that PERKIM can strengthen global dakwah networks through IDIP-KL.
Dato’ Dr Marzuki, who is also the Honorary Secretary-General of RISEAP, stated that now is the time to instil Islamic values among communities at the international level, including in countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, Japan, and many more.
He further stressed the importance of unity within Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society, citing Sarawak as an example where, despite Muslims comprising only about 30% of the population, harmony and respected leadership are successfully maintained.
“Our strength lies in sincerity, integrity, and leadership capability. If these remain intact, people will respect us,” he noted.
Concluding his speech, he called on all PERKIM members to continue their role as a respected and relevant dakwah organisation.
“We must unite, work professionally, and remain steadfast in conveying the message of Islam. May this endeavour be blessed by Allah,” he said in his closing remarks.
