CHEMOR, MAY 15, 2026 – Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) and Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) continued to uphold their commitment towards vulnerable communities by organising a welfare outreach programme to Pusat Jagaan Harmoni today.
Held at approximately 11.30am, the visit aimed to provide support and companionship to the residents of the care centre, comprising former mental health patients, individuals facing social difficulties, as well as those requiring ongoing protection and rehabilitation.
The delegation from PERKIM National was led by Dakwah Executive 1, Ustaz Muhammad Jais Mariappan Abdullah, representing the Honorary Secretary-General of PERKIM National, Dato’ Haji Mohamad Marzuki Mohamad Omar.
Also present were PERKIM National Deputy Finance Executive, Azura Abdul Rahman; Islamic missionary officer from the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), Ustaz Mohamad Noor PK Osman; PERKIM National secretariat members Fatin Akmal Aksah, Muhamad Fardly Johan, Nurul ‘Izzah Salimi and Ummul Murshida Mat Shuqi; as well as the centre’s wardens, Meor Ahmad Syafiq and Nurul Aini Ibrahim.

In her welcoming address, Pusat Jagaan Harmoni Coordinator, Hajah Asmaliana Jamaluddin expressed appreciation to PERKIM National and MAIWP for visiting the centre, which currently houses 153 male residents and more than 50 female residents.
She said the majority of the residents were individuals struggling with mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and chronic emotional distress, in addition to those previously involved in drug abuse and family conflicts.
According to her, the management not only focuses on physical care but also places strong emphasis on spiritual healing and emotional development through compassion-based approaches, spiritual therapy and religious education.
“Every resident requires continuous care and affection. Some arrived in extremely critical and aggressive conditions, but after receiving treatment, guidance and being placed in a harmonious environment, they gradually became calmer and more capable of interacting positively,” she said.
The visit also touched the hearts of the delegation when several male residents recited verses from Surah Al-Mulk with remarkable composure and devotion before the guests.
Meanwhile, the female residents collectively performed zikir and selawat recitations, creating a deeply moving and serene atmosphere throughout the centre.
The emotional moment left a profound impression on the visitors, who witnessed how the residents were not only provided with treatment and shelter, but were also continuously nurtured through spiritual guidance and religious enrichment.

Meanwhile, Pusat Jagaan Harmoni Founder, Hajah Saadiah Yob shared the long and challenging journey of establishing the welfare centre, which she described as being driven by responsibility and compassion for the less fortunate.
She admitted that caring for residents with severe mental health and social issues was far from easy, but sincerity and faith in Allah SWT had become her greatest source of strength.
According to her, the centre had faced numerous hardships, including financial constraints and the demanding responsibility of caring for residents requiring close supervision. Nevertheless, every challenge was endured patiently to ensure that no one was neglected.
“If we sincerely help others, Allah SWT will help us in return. I truly believe that blessings come when we carry out our responsibilities with genuine compassion,” she said emotionally.
She added that the centre is currently managed together with family members and dedicated staff who work tirelessly to safeguard the welfare of the residents.
She further explained that many residents admitted to the centre were initially in critical conditions and often rejected by society. However, through compassionate care and a family-oriented environment, many had shown encouraging progress.

In his speech, Ustaz Muhammad Jais Mariappan Abdullah said the visit was part of the responsibility entrusted by MAIWP to deliver food aid contributions to those in need.
“Alhamdulillah, our main purpose here is to fulfil the trust given by MAIWP in delivering these food kits. Although the contribution may be modest, our presence here is driven by compassion and brotherhood,” he said.
He stressed that all human beings are equal in the eyes of Allah SWT, and that the only distinction lies in one’s piety.
He also expressed admiration for the management’s unwavering dedication in educating and guiding the residents through continuous religious and spiritual development.
“Perhaps the residents here are far greater than us in the eyes of Allah SWT, as they have endured immense trials in life while continuing to receive guidance and compassion,” he remarked.
He hoped that the relationship between PERKIM National and Pusat Jagaan Harmoni would continue through future dakwah initiatives and follow-up visits.
According to him, PERKIM National would also assist in promoting the centre’s welfare efforts through media platforms to encourage more parties to contribute support.
“I am deeply touched by the sincerity shown by the management of this centre. They do not seek recognition from people, but only the pleasure of Allah SWT. May Allah continue to bless this centre and provide abundant sustenance so it can continue serving the community,” he added.
