PERKIM Attended the Funeral Prayer for the Late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Former President of PERKIM
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 FEBRUARY 2024 – The Muslim Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (PERKIM) attended the funeral prayer for PERKIM’s sixth President, the Late Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud at the National Mosque at 10.24 am. His remains was taken from the Cardiac Vascular Sentral, Kuala Lumpur to the National Mosque for the final rites, then transported with full honours by the Malaysia Armed Forces for prayers.
Attending the funeral procession were his widow, Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, his daughter YB Dato Hajah Hanifah Hajar Taib Alsree, family members and friends. Also present were the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Dato Hasbi Habibollah and the Chief of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The Secretary General of PERKIM, Tan Sri DR Yusuf Noor and Heads of Departments in PERKIM were also present at the funeral. The late Pehin played a significant role as President of PERKIM in 1989 – 2006 and contributed immensely to the development of dakwah and education of the reverts. He also contributed financially to the needy in PERKIM.
The Imam of the National Mosque led the final prayers.
After prayers, family members, relatives and friends were able to pay their last respects before the burial in Kuching, Sarawak.
PERKIM mourns the passing of a statesman and hopes that the close relations between PERKIM and Sarawak persists eternally.
May Allah SWT accept his good deeds and place him among the righteous. Ameen.

The Malaysian Armed Forces brought the body to the Main Lecture Hall of the National Mosque to give family members, friends and the public the opportunity to pay their last respects.
