KUALA LUMPUR, 20 DECEMBER 2023 – The Secretary General of Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM), YBhg Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor greeted and welcomed the group from PERKIM Masjid Tanah, Melaka at the PERKIM Headquarters. He recorded his appreciation and thanks to the forty-two members of the group. The visit was aimed at fostering firmer relations as well as exchanging of ideas regarding dakwah, welfare and education activities for the reverts of PERKIM Masjid Tanah, Melaka.
In his speech, Tan Sri Dr Yusof Noor touched on the history of PERKIM, the founder, the late YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, who despite his duties as the Prime Minister of Malaysia, managed to found PERKIM and elect leaders from the different races to run the association. He also mentioned the early history of this 63 years old building which had undergone trials and tribulations until present time.
The Chairman of PERKIM Cawangan Masjid Tanah, Tuan Haji Taib Haji Baba, in his speech said his branch is proud today to have their own building which was donated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The community now acknowledges their existence and members can intensify their dakwah, welfare and education activities. His members consist of 95 ladies and 8 men. Haji Taib plans to visit other Islamic organisations in Malaysia to gather ideas for his branch members to promote goodwill among the reverts.
The Senior Director of Dakwah, PERKIM Kebangsaan, YBhg Dato’ Haji Razali Haji Shahabudin in his welcoming speech mentioned that this visit provided fresh input for planning programmes and activities for dakwah, welfare and education for the reverts. He hoped for better collaboration between the two parties this 2024.
An exchange of gifts took place between PERKIM and The Masjid Tanah Branch of PERKIM at the end of the visit.
Others who attended the event were YBhg Dato’ Haji Abdul Hanif Harun; YBhg Dato’ Haji Mohamad Nordin Ibrahim ;Encik Zulkefli Arifin and Firdaus Lokman Tah.
