40 UniSZA Undergrads Paid Courtesy Visit to PERKIM

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 DECEMBER 2023The Honorary Secretary General of PERKIM, Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusuf Noor warmly welcomed 40 members of Kelab PERKIM Universiti (KPU) of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) to PERKIM at the Dataran Dakwah on Friday. The students were on a courtesy visit.

To commence the occasion, Ustaz Muhammad Jais Mariappan Abdullah, the Dakwah and Human Development Officer of PERKIM offered a prayer / dua while the emcee was UPDI officer, Ustaz Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah.

Dr Yusof Noor thanked the group and said he was happy to meet and get to know better the members of the PERKIM Club from UniSZA. He added that PERKIM encourages youngsters to be members so as to achieve its original objectives. He explained that PERKIM is not only for Malays – it is meant to introduce Islam to the non-Muslims as Islam is a universal religion.

He referred to the organisational structure of PERKIM’s early days when the late YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj elected the late Tan Sri SOK Ubaidullah Kadir Basha, an Indian, as the first Head of PERKIM and Tan Sri Haji Abdul Mubin Sheppard, an Englishman, as the Honorary Secretary General.

As such PERKIM members in UniSZA should take into account the other races as their committee members especially those from Sabah and Sarawak, so that the Club members will be multi-racial and multi-ethnic.

During the recent 14th Convocation, he noticed many graduates of Chinese, Indian, Sabahan and Sarawakian communities, apart from the Malays.

He hoped the Committee members of the Club will be multi-ethnic in the future. Tan Sri was of the opinion that being a member of this Club will not distract students from their academic responsibilities.

The number of activities available will add value to their status as university students. Through this Club the Muslims will be able to impart their knowledge of Islam to the others in the campus.

EXCO KPU UniSZA, Muhammad Ariff Jamali thanked PERKIM National for the warm welcome accorded them. Their courtesy visit was meant to build a strategic relationship between the two parties, besides discussing a possible working partnership between UniSZA and PERKIM.

The visit also gives PERKIM Club members of UniSZA the opportunity to know more about this Non-Government Organisation that is known globally to empower Islam. Before this visit, the group has carried out “Street Dakwah” in Kuala Lumpur guided by Brother Firdaus Wong Wei Hung, the Chairman of “Pertubuhan Mualaf Berbilang Bangsa” from 21 December to 24 December 2023.

The President of KPU UniSZA, Muhammad Shafizal Haikal Azmi presented a momento in the form of a plaque from KPU UniSZA and a gift to Dr Yusof Noor. The latter in turn presented a book “Wawasan 60 Tahun PERKIM” to Shafizal.
