PERKIM Visits Poor Revert with Three Children

KEPONG, 13 DESEMBER 2023 – Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah, officer in the Dakwah and Human Development Unit of Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) National paid a visit to new revert, Mira Abdullah, 24, at Taman Intan recently, after hearing from the public about the plight of this family.

Mira has three children, aged five, three and one. The eldest does not go to school as she cannot speak. Her husband has been detained by the police. Mira is unemployed as she has to mind her young children. She depends on neighbours for her sustenance.

PERKIM has helped to pay for arrears for her house rental, electricity and water since November 2023 as she was being evicted by the landlord.

Farhan could not hold his tears as he described how the family sleeps on a piece of cloth on the bare floor. The kitchen was utterly bare.

Farhan and his colleagues immediately went to a nearby store to purchase a gas stove, mattress and blankets as well as eggs. His colleagues had brought along some rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, biscuits, sardines and powdered milk. Farhan promised Mira he would supply basic food stuff each month until her situation improves.

Mira intends to sell snacks in front of a nearby school to support her family. She had recently applied for support from MAIWP on 17 November 2023.

At the end of the visit, Farhan handed her some cash for her immediate needs.

Donations for her family can be directed to her Maybank account number 164203527232 under the name Mira Binti Abdullah.

May Mira and her children be patient and stay strong in facing the trials of Allah SWT.
