KUALA LUMPUR, APRIL 7, 2026 – The National Women’s Council Meeting of the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) No. 1/2026, held this morning at the PERKIM National Headquarters, served as a key platform to reinforce the organisation’s strategic direction, particularly in the areas of welfare, education and the empowerment of women’s initiatives throughout the year.
The meeting, chaired by PERKIM National Women’s Chief, Tunku Puan Sri Dato’ Hajjah Noor Hayati Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj brought together the movement’s top leadership, including Honorary Secretary, Dato’ Hajah Maznah Dasmi and Honorary Treasurer, Dr. Nur’azah Datuk Abdul Manaf, while Deputy Women’s Chief II, Datin Seri Dato’ Hajah Shamsiah Haji Md Yassin participated virtually.
Also present were National PERKIM Women Council Members, Datin Hajah Mawanchik Che Jais, Datin Paduka Norsiah Haron, Hajah Norizan Ismail, Datuk Dr Hajah Munirah Mohd Hassan, Datuk Hajah Norzarina Sepran, Hajah Faiza Bawumi Sayed Ahmad, Hajah Sharifah Zubaidah Syed Mahdzar, Azlifa Md Idris, as well as Permanent Chairperson Hajah Hasnah Mohamed.
In her opening remarks, Tunku Noor Hayati underscored the importance of unity, organisational discipline and sincerity in carrying out the trust of da’wah and welfare responsibilities, in line with PERKIM Women’s mission to support converts (mualaf) and the underprivileged.
The meeting proceeded with the confirmation of the minutes of Meeting No. 3/2025 and deliberations on matters arising, chaired by Dato’ Maznah, before the financial report was presented by Dr. Nur’azah. The report covered the period from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2025, as well as current performance for the first quarter of 2026.
The presentation also addressed programme expenditures, providing a clear overview of the organisation’s financial standing and the need for prudent fund management.
On organisational planning, the meeting focused on preparations for the 46th National PERKIM Women’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to take place from April 24 to 26 in Ampang, Selangor.
Task allocations were systematically outlined, covering protocol, registration, programme management and the preparation of a digital (PDF) programme booklet as a cost-saving measure.
Several key decisions were also made, including the determination of participation fees, engagement of sponsors, and the need to ensure that all arrangements — including food preparation and bazaar activities — comply with halal standards and professional hotel management practices.
The meeting also received reports from sub-committees, highlighting the effectiveness of programmes implemented during Ramadan and in the lead-up to Syawal.
Among them was the “Semarak Menjelang Syawal” programme, which successfully reached more than 80 recipients comprising converts, tahfiz students and asnaf groups through the distribution of festive attire and welfare assistance.
The Education Sub-Committee reported the success of entrepreneurship initiatives, including Raya cookie-making classes that saw active participation from converts. The programme not only equipped participants with new skills but also opened avenues for income generation through small-scale businesses.
Meanwhile, the PERKIM Women’s Hari Raya celebration with the multiracial community recorded a positive impact, drawing participation from non-Muslims and serving as an effective dakwah platform.
The event also witnessed the conversion of an individual to Islam, reflecting PERKIM’s inclusive and harmonious approach.
The Fundraising Sub-Committee proposed the organisation of a gala dinner at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), as well as a jogathon programme, as initiatives to strengthen the organisation’s financial resources amid increasing challenges.
In other developments, the meeting also addressed efforts to streamline the organisational structure, including branch registration matters, regulatory compliance, and the need for proper approvals and official documentation to ensure smooth operations at all state and divisional levels.
In her closing remarks, Noor Hayati expressed appreciation to all members for their commitment and emphasised the importance of working as a united team in facing current challenges.
She also called on all members to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and in alignment with the organisation’s mission to strengthen the role of PERKIM Women as effective agents of dakwah and welfare.
“Every effort we undertake not only benefits the community but also becomes a lasting reward in the hereafter when carried out with sincerity,” she said.
The meeting concluded with renewed spirit and strong resolve to ensure that all planned programmes are implemented in a more structured, impactful and comprehensive manner for the well-being of the ummah.
Also present were National PERKIM Women’s secretariat members Fatin Hamizah Ismail and Siti Masliana Mohd Ariffin.
