PERKIM CONTINUES ‘DATES DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME’ TO ASNAF AND B40 GROUP

The Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) distribute more than 100 boxes of dates daily to Asnaf and B40 group at several locations around Kuala Lumpur.
“We take this opportunity to wish all Muslims a blessed Ramadan. While most of us still have the opportunity to experience Ramadan in festivities, it is important to remember the poor who are having difficulties putting food on their table every day due to Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully, the distribution of dates can spread cheer and ease the burden of the poor during this holy month of Ramadan” said Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM), Secretary General, YBhg Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Yusof Noor.
PERKIM have prepared 3,000 boxes of dates valued at over RM 27,000 to recipients in rolling out the “Dates Distribution Programme” this year.
PPR Laksamana residents association president Hj. Muslim Bin Hj. Ismail, expressed his delight with PERKIM’s compassion in distributing more than 200 dates boxes to help the underprivileged residents. “The B40 community is greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are overwhelmed with gratitude upon aid received from PERKIM to boost our efforts to help the urban poor, especially during this holy month of Ramadan”.
Meanwhile, recipient Abu Bakar Bin Mat Isa, 65, who is disabled said the aid was a blessing for him who face challenges in earning a living on a daily basis due to Covid-19.
Joo Yok Khim, 60, said her husband had passed away, rendering her fraught with hardship. She was overjoyed upon receiving the aid. “I am grateful towards PERKIM’s concerns over people’s welfare regardless of skin colour and religion”, she added. This programme is one of PERKIM’s initiatives arranged during Ramadan mooted since 2011 to ensure more underprivileged groups received assistance and that PERKIM would continue to play a role in development and welfare of Muslims as well as non-Muslims in Malaysia.
