PERKIM’S MISSIONARY GROUP CONTINUES ITS COVID-19 AID PROGRAMME TO ASNAF AND NEW MUSLIMS HOUSEHOLDS DURING MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO) 2.0

Whether man-made or natural, disaster usually strike at the most inopportune times. PERKIM does not leave anyone behind to provide relief to the groups that are affected by Covid-19 pandemic.
In this difficult time, it is our priority to provide aid as possible so that the suffering of the affected groups is not prolonged, as well as to prevent these people from succumbing to the aftermath of the Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“In this trying time, NGOs and volunteers must play a vital role in identifying those who are in dire need of aids to survive during MCO” said PERKIM’s officer, Ustazah Siti Munirah Sayed.
PERKIM’s missionary troops have identified the poor and needy families and visit their homes where each deserving family is given a cash donation. Ustaz Farhan Abdullah, PERKIM’s officer, explained “we are able to identify the problems they face when we get to meet the families who are mostly people who have lost their jobs and in poor health conditions”.
Ustaz Jais expressed his towards the living conditions of the Asnaf groups who have lost their source of income due to MCO 2.0 imposed by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19. At the time of writing, Malaysia saw a spike of Covid-19 with new cases reported at an alarming rate of 4,000 cases daily.
Since the beginning of MCO 2.0 from 13th January to 4th February 2021, PERKIM has worked actively in providing assistance especially towards the New Muslims community. “The donation recipients are mostly those who suffer loss of source of income, single mothers, sick and financially burdened New Muslims families who are greatly affected due to the MCO 2.0.
“This is the third day since our team embarked on the journey of delivering donations under PERKIM Covid-19 Aid Programme to Asnaf and New Muslims”, explained Jais. The welfare groups are divided into several teams to extend PERKIM’s reach to more families in need. The teams are as follows ; Team A, led by Ustaz Muhammad Farha Tee Abdullah, Team B, led by Ustaz Jais, Team C, led by Ustazah Siti Munirah Sayed Mohd Hamdan and Team D, led by Ustaz Haji Amran Anbarasu Abdullah.
All of the teams under PERKIM’s Welfare Group have distributed as many as 63 donations to new Muslims and it is hoped that this initiative will help to alleviate the financial burden borne by the recipients.
This initiative is a continued effort by PERKIM mooted at the start of Movement Control Order (MCO) in March to help alleviate the burden of the Asnaf and New Muslim converts community. May this good deed be accepted and blessed by Allah SWT.
