Head of Wanita PERKIM Welcomes Visit of PERKIM Branch of Sri Aman

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 NOVEMBER 2023The Head of Wanita PERKIM, YTM Tunku Puan Sri Dato’ Seri Hajah Noor Hayati Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj welcomed the delegation of 10 members of PERKIM Branch of Sri Aman on a study visit to West Malaysia. The event was held at the Auditorium, Level 4of the Headquarters of PERKIM National.

In her welcoming address, Tunku Noor Hayati thanked the group for visiting and said she was happy to be able to meet them in person. They had communicated on-line in Sarawak, previously.

She hoped that the visit would foster better and closer relations between Wanita PERKIM Kebangsaan and PERKIM Branch of Sri Aman.

Regarding the uniform of PERKIM, she explained that the green and white colour had added impetus on the members to enhance their dakwah and welfare activities.

She added that although the dakwah activities carried out were not as numerous as we would like it to be, they provide the “introduction” for future generations to adopt Islam and understand this universal religion.

Tunku Noor Hayati remembered to convey greetings from the Honorary Secretary General of PERKIM, YBhg Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor who could not meet the visitors as he had commitments out of the state.

According to Tunku, the women dai of PERKIM encounter a myriad of problems in the country. It is time we take the initiative to record their personal data and address the various issues caused by socio-economic factors and local culture.

This also commiserates with the objective to increase the number of our Muslim borthers and sisters. It should start with handling problems and learning the life-styles of the reverted society, and finding solutions to the murtad cases or the life-styles that are contradictory to Islam.

The data recorded will be shared with related departments , e.g. State Religious Councils, Jabatan Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat (JPWKM), Department of Social Welfare (JKM), and and other related departments for further action.

The Chairperson of PERKIM Sri Aman, Puan Hajah Dayang Meriana Haji Awang Yusop stated that she was thankful for the warm welcome accorded her group. The study visit was planned because the members wanted to see and learn from sisters in West Malaysia.

On the first day, they visited PERKIM Klang Branch to see for themselves how the restaurant business is run, and how they can afford to give free meals on Fridays, as well as how they manage the PERKIM Branch at Masjid Jamek Ar-Rahimah, Klang.

Besides, they believe their visit can foster better relations when they exchange ideas of dakwah strategies, welfare and education for the reverts of Sri Aman.

Dayang Meriana further explained that they will co-operate with other agencies, government or non-government, that will give them impetus for their dakwah programmes, in accordance with the government agenda as well as the mission and vision of PERKIM’s objectives in welfare, education and cooperation with new reverts. It is hoped that this meeting will enhance future activities between Wanita PERKIM Kebangsaan and PERKIM Sri Aman.

The group was taken on a quick tour of PERKIM Headquarters. PERKIM Cawangan Sri Aman was taken to the Pengislaman Room, Unit Dakwah & Pembangunan Insan, Unit Administration, Office of Wanita PERKIM, the Mini Library and Dataran Dakwah.

At the end of the event, Tunku Noor Hayati presented a gift in the form of a plague and a book entitled “Warisan dan Wawasan 60 Tahun PERKIM”. This was reciprocated with a gift of a plague from PERKIM Sri Aman.
