CHIANG RAI, MAY 28, 2026 – An atmosphere of gratitude, devotion and joy marked the Aidiladha celebration organised by the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) National in collaboration with the children of the As-Siddiqin Foundation Madrasah in Mae Pao, Phaya Mengrai, recently.

From the early hours of the morning, more than 250 Muslims gathered at the grounds of the As-Siddiqin Foundation Madrasah to perform the Aidiladha prayers before witnessing the sacrificial ritual (ibadah korban) and participating in a da’wah outreach programme held in conjunction with the Islamic celebration.

The programme was jointly organised with the Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP) and the Jom Buat Baik Facebook Group.

PERKIM National Da’wah Executive, Ustaz Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah, said this year’s programme received an encouraging response, with Muslims from diverse backgrounds coming together to participate in the celebration.

He said the gathering of more than 250 participants included orphans, converts to Islam (mualaf), parents, villagers, rubber tappers from southern Thailand including Pattani, Satun, Songkhla and Narathiwat, as well as members of the Tabligh movement, volunteers and contributors from various locations.

“Programmes such as this not only strengthen the visibility and spirit of Islam, but also serve as a platform to foster brotherhood among Muslims while reaching out to rural communities and those in need.

“The spirit of sacrifice embodied by Aidiladha must be translated into unity, compassion and selflessness for the sake of the faith,” he said.

The Aidiladha prayers commenced at 8.30am and were led by As-Siddiqin Foundation instructor Ustaz Mukmin Abdullah.

The sight of worshippers filling the madrasah compound while reciting the takbir reflected the enthusiasm of the local Muslim community to celebrate Aidiladha together in a modest yet meaningful setting.

Following the prayers, As-Siddiqin Foundation Principal, Ustaz Usman Che Mat distributed festive gifts (duit raya) to students from the mountainous regions of Chiang Rai, including those from the Akha, Hmong, Lahu and several other ethnic communities.

The cheerful faces and bright smiles of the children reflected their appreciation for the contributions and the opportunity to celebrate Aidiladha alongside fellow Muslims.

Meanwhile, As-Siddiqin Foundation Co-Founder, Ustaz Yusuf Wanngoh delivered an Aidiladha sermon titled “Lessons from the Sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim”, highlighting the values of sincerity, sacrifice and absolute obedience to Allah SWT.

In his sermon, he elaborated on how the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS stands as the ultimate symbol of a servant’s submission to the command of Allah.

He also explained that prior to the advent of Islam, the Jahiliyyah society in Makkah practised various forms of worship that were intertwined with polytheistic beliefs and were not based on divine revelation.

According to him, Prophet Muhammad SAW brought reform by teaching mankind the correct manner of worship founded upon Islamic law and pure monotheism.

“The Prophet taught humanity to refrain from performing acts of worship based solely on personal desires and customs until guidance from Allah SWT was revealed.

“Islam educates mankind to ensure that every act of worship is performed with knowledge, sincerity and complete adherence to the teachings of the faith,” said Ustaz Yusuf.

He also reminded the congregation to reflect deeply on the true meaning of sacrifice in the life of a Muslim.

“We must ask ourselves what we have sacrificed for our religion. Our time, energy, wealth and even our personal comfort will one day be questioned,” he stressed.

The heartfelt sermon deeply moved many in attendance, with some lowering their heads in contemplation and devotion, while others were seen shedding tears as they reflected on the true meaning of sacrifice.

Also present were As-Siddiqin Foundation Co-Operator Haji Roski Abdul Rahman, Jom Buat Baik Facebook Group Founder Ustaz Azatul Ridzuan Hassan, and PERKIM National Finance Executive Mohd Aizat Rosli.

The programme successfully enlivened the Aidiladha celebration among Muslim communities in the rural areas of Chiang Rai while further strengthening the cross-border da’wah and welfare initiatives undertaken by PERKIM National and its strategic partners.
