29th IDIP-KB Certificate Presentation Ceremony Recognises Graduates’ Achievements, Sarawak Contributes RM1 Million

KOTA BHARU, January 29, 2026The Premier of Sarawak and President of Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM), YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, expressed his gratitude to Allah SWT for the smooth conduct of the 29th Certificate Presentation Ceremony of the PERKIM Islamic Dakwah Institute Kota Bharu (IDIP-KB), held at the Main Hall of the Sultan Ismail Petra Silver Jubilee Islamic Complex (KIJP) in Panji here on Thursday morning.

Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari’s arrival was warmly welcomed with full courtesy by Yang Berhormat Mulia Tengku Temenggong Kelantan, who is also President of the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK), YBM Tengku Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz. The reception reflected the close ties between the leadership of Kelantan and Sarawak as well as their shared commitment to advancing the national agenda of Islamic dakwah and welfare.

The ceremony, which commenced at 11.00am, symbolised formal recognition of the students’ success in completing their studies in Islamic education and dakwah, while also highlighting PERKIM’s continuous dedication to producing knowledgeable and morally upright Islamic preachers.

The event was further graced by the presence of Yang Mulia Tengku Puan Temenggong Kelantan, who is also Deputy President of PERKIM, YM Tunku Puan Sri Dato’ Hajjah Noor Hayati Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, who graciously consented to officiate the certificate presentation.

Also present were PERKIM Deputy President, YBhg. Dr. Haji Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and PERKIM Honorary Treasurer, YBhg. Datu Haji Mersal Abang Rosli.


In his officiating speech, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari described the ceremony as more than a formal occasion, but rather a testament to the perseverance, commitment and determination of the mualaf graduates, nurtured through the guidance of lecturers, the support of families and the unwavering encouragement of the PERKIM community.

He expressed pride in the role of IDIP-KB as a premier platform in producing cadres of dakwah who are not only knowledgeable, but also ethical, credible and capable of conveying the message of Islam effectively within a plural society.

“The certificate received today is not an end, but the beginning of a greater trust and responsibility to serve religion, the ummah and the nation based on knowledge and noble Islamic values,” he said.

Elaborating further, he conveyed his appreciation to MAIK for its strong support towards the dakwah and educational activities of IDIP-KB, including strategic cooperation and future academic planning such as the proposed Pre-IDIP-KB Programme.

Efforts to enhance infrastructure and expand academic programmes were also described as vital steps to ensure that IDIP-KB remains relevant, innovative and competitive.

Touching on facilities, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari acknowledged the need for infrastructure improvements, including the construction of a male hostel, surau and multipurpose hall, which he described as strategic long-term requirements that necessitate cooperation from all parties, including the state government.

In this regard, he announced that the Sarawak Islamic Education Bureau would contribute RM1 million to IDIP-KB for the development of a male hostel as part of efforts to enhance the welfare and comfort of students.


Meanwhile, PERKIM Honorary Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohamad Marzuki Mohamad Omar, in his welcoming remarks, expressed gratitude for the successful organisation of the ceremony in a blessed and meaningful atmosphere.

He recorded his appreciation to Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari for graciously attending and officiating the event, and extended heartfelt thanks to YM Tengku Puan Temenggong Kelantan for her presence, which served as a source of inspiration to the IDIP-KB community and the graduates.

According to him, since its establishment, IDIP-KB has played a pivotal role in guiding new Muslim converts and producing graduates who are capable of becoming agents of unity and harmony in society.

The continuous support from MAIK, state Islamic religious councils, government departments, agencies and NGOs was also acknowledged as a key factor in strengthening the institution’s educational and dakwah initiatives.

During the ceremony, YM Tengku Puan Temenggong Kelantan presented certificates to 39 graduates of the Basic Islamic Studies Certificate (SAP), while Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, accompanied by Dato’ Dr. Marzuki, presented certificates to 64 graduates of the Islamic Studies Certificate (SPI).

Four SPI graduates, Jesika Guntur, Mohamad Alfian Saidin, Nur Izzah Shahidah Kamarudin and Mohammad Faidhi Amni Darulsman, received the SPI Outstanding Student Award Trophy, while Norzanah Dalu, Mika Uda and Nur Beverly Daniel each received the SAP Outstanding Student Award Trophy.

The ceremony also conferred the IDIP-KB Alumni Special Award upon YBhg Prof Dato’ Dr Haji Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah.

The event was enlivened by a performance from the IDIP-KB Nasyid Group, who delivered renditions of “Kau Kekasih Allah” and “Ibu”, before concluding with a photography session and luncheon.

Also in attendance were Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar YB Datuk Dr. Mohamed Fadzli Hassan; Sarawak Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr. Hazland Abang Hipni; PERKIM National Administration Director YBhg Dr Suariza @ Hidayah Muhammad; IDIP-KB Executive Ustazah Noorsaadah Md Hanafi @ Md Zain, as well as officials from MAIK, the Kelantan State Secretary’s Office and the Sarawak State Government.
