36 PERKIM Officers Attended a Meeting to Coordinate Dakwah, Welfare and Education Programmes and Activities
KUALA LUMPUR, 27 MAY 2024 – Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) National held a meeting to coordinate dakwah, welfare and education programmes and activities at the Ilm Hall, IDIP-KL.
The thirty-six officers comprised officers from PERKIM Headquarters and officers from each state in Malaysia except Sabah.
The meeting was presided by Senior Director of Dakwah, Dato Hj Razali Shahabudin.
Mr. Muhammad Jais Mariappan Abdullah presented the education programmes and activities carried out by PERKIM National, which are: Classes on Islamic Studies which are held throughout the year.
Monday – Friday – 5.30pm to 7.00 pm.
Saturday – Sunday – 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Classes are categorized as Pre-basic, Basic, Inter-mediate, Advanced and Enrichment (Tahsin)
Students are placed in classes according to their knowledge and proficiency, based on the existing syllabus. On-line classes are also available.
There is an examination at the end of each academic year.
Awards for excellence are given to deserving students. Mr Mariappan’s presentation was followed by presentations of the education programmes and activities of each state.
It was recommended that everyone use the existing syllabus to run at least one class and one on-line class to facilitate learning for the new reverts.
Expenses for running these programmes and activities can be solicited from the State Religious Departments.
Madam Siti Munirah Sayed Mohd Hamdan, PERKIM’s officer for Dakwah and Human Development Unit presented programmes and activities carried out by her unit.
She explained the Islamization procedure in PERKIM which is in line with the ones implemented by Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS) and Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (JAWI).
Other monthly programmes include – Program Halaqah Al-Quran Bersama Mualalf – twice monthly; Rumah Perlindungan Sri Puteri @ Wangsa Maju – a temporary abode for new reverts; Wedding reception for reverts; Reverts’ self- development courses; Reverts’ Convention.
Mr. Farhan Tee Abdullah delivered the welfare programmes and activities run by PERKIM National which consisted of visits and contributions to those living in the Klang Valley and Selangor. These involve helping to ease debt payment, hospital visits, pay hospital bills, arrangement for funerals and counselling reverts with problems.
Farhan highlighted the availability of a rehabilitation centre for stroke patients (SCORE) which charges minimal fees. There are also Asrama Darul Falah – a hostel for the children of the aborigines, a kindergarten and day-care for spastic children called TASPUTRA.
Mr. Muhammad Hizam Abdul Rahim, an officer at IDIP-KL explained the monthly activities carried out at IDIP-KL for Professional Reverts while the “Kader Dai Professional” programmes are serial programmes.
Officers from the states are encouraged to refer to the officers at the Headquarters for coordination purposes.
Dato Razali hoped to organise these meetings three times a year so that programmes and activities are carried out successfully.
The Hon. Secretary General of PERKIM, Tan Sri Yusof Noor was present at this meeting. Also present were Dato Abdul Hanif Harun, Dato Ahmad Mustafa and Tan Sri Muhammad Rais bin Abdul Karim.
YBhg Dato’ Haji Razali Haji Shahabudin chaired this meeting.

Siti Munirah presented on the procedure of conversion to Islam and Rumah Lindungan Sri Puteri.
PERKIM Selangor staff, Michelle also gave her views at the meeting.
The Honorary Secretary General of PERKIM, YBhg Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor welcomed the presence of officials and staff from all over the state to IDIPKL.
