“We Haven’t Eaten for a Day”: PERKIM Delivers Emergency Food and Cash Aid to Mualaf Family in Kepong

By: Muhammad Farhan Tee Abdullah

KEPONG, 26 MAY 2025 – “We haven’t eaten for a day,” were the heartbreaking words of Nisha Devy, 44, as she pleaded with PERKIM for food aid for her four children.

According to Nisha, her family had run out of food supplies and had only been drinking coffee since the previous night, as they had no money to buy any food.

Her husband had just recently secured a job and currently has no stable income. Meanwhile, they still need to pay their monthly house rent of RM650.00.

Her application to renew welfare assistance with Baitulmal Wilayah Persekutuan is currently being processed, as she has just reapplied for the aid. Previously, the family received monthly assistance from Baitulmal for a year.

Their living conditions are modest, and the family sleeps on thin, worn-out mattresses (toto) without pillows, making it quite uncomfortable and sad to witness.

Her children are still schooling, aged 15, 10, and 9 years old, while the youngest child is only three.

In response, PERKIM stepped in to provide food supplies and handed over some cash assistance to help ease their burden.

Let us all pray that this family is blessed with abundant sustenance, and that the children grow up well and are able to attend Islamic education classes nearby.

Donations can be made directly to Nisha Devy via CIMB Bank (Account No: 7007890125) – Vimla Devy A/P S. Tanamalai.

Nisha Devy, 44, together with her three children, received essential grocery items such as rice, flour, sugar, soy sauce, biscuits, coffee, and vermicelli from PERKIM.

The contribution was delivered by Farhan Tee on behalf of PERKIM.

Nisha shared that her family has been living in hardship and had no food supplies since last night. Their rented home is in poor condition and lacks basic necessities.
