TEMERLOH, SEPTEMBER 27, 2025 – The Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) National Headquarters, in collaboration with the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), today conducted a welfare outreach visit to Pertubuhan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Kebajikan Darul Izzah located along Jalan Teluk Ira here.

The programme, which commenced at 11.30 a.m., was warmly welcomed by the Centre’s Supervisor, Haji Mat Noor Maree, along with the residents comprising orphans, the underprivileged, and senior citizens.

According to Haji Mat Noor, the centre currently accommodates over 100 residents, with more than half being senior citizens who reside in donated wakaf shelters, while the rest consist of orphans and the poor, who are provided with shelter, basic education and religious guidance.

“Darul Izzah is not merely a place of refuge. We strive to ensure that every resident receives proper attention whether in education, spiritual guidance or daily care.
This is our small effort to bring meaning into their lives,” he said when briefing the visiting delegation.

The visit, led by Programme Coordinator, Ustaz Muhammad Jais Mariappan Abdullah, also included a tour of the wakaf houses where senior citizens reside. Delegates were able to exchange greetings and listen to the life experiences of several residents, who received them with cheerful smiles and heartfelt gratitude.

The calm and serene atmosphere of the centre reflected the compassion and care nurtured by the wider Muslim community.

As a gesture of support, PERKIM National and MAIWP contributed 30 packs of dry food supplies to the centre’s management.

Ustaz Jais Mariappan noted that such visits are not only about reaching out to the less fortunate but also about strengthening ties between the community, non-governmental organisations and religious agencies.

The delegation was also taken on a tour of the premises by Haji Mat Noor to observe the facilities housing both orphans and senior citizens.

“The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: ‘I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be in Paradise like this’ (Sahih al-Bukhari).

This is our guiding principle. Caring for orphans, the poor and the elderly is a noble act of worship with immense reward,” he added.

He further explained that the centre was established through the awareness and concern of the local Muslim community towards orphans and senior citizens. Starting as a small initiative, it has since grown into a well-structured welfare institution providing shelter, education, spiritual enrichment and a harmonious environment for its residents.

The centre also offers academic and religious education, organises congregational prayers for the elderly, and builds welfare networks with government agencies, NGOs and charitable donors.

Ustaz Jais Mariappan said the visit left a profound impact on the PERKIM delegation, who witnessed first-hand the sense of peace and gratitude radiating from the faces of the residents.
