Happy 76th Birthday to The Premier of Sarawak and President of PERKIM
On the joyous occasion of the 76th Birthday of YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Premier of Sarawak and President of the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM), the Members and Top Leadership of PERKIM extend our heartfelt congratulations, warmest wishes and profound appreciation to a distinguished statesman whose exemplary leadership has significantly contributed to the progress of Sarawak, the advancement of the Muslim community and the development of the nation.
Born in Limbang on 4 August 1950, YAB has devoted more than five decades of unwavering service to Sarawak and Malaysia. His remarkable journey from a dedicated son of Sarawak to one of the nation’s most respected leaders reflects an enduring commitment to integrity, visionary leadership and public service. Since assuming the office of Premier of Sarawak in 2017, he has spearheaded transformative initiatives in economic development, digital transformation, renewable energy, infrastructure, education and innovation, while steadfastly safeguarding Sarawak’s constitutional rights and aspirations within the Federation of Malaysia.
YAB’s appointment as President of PERKIM on 10 May 2025 marked another significant milestone in his distinguished career. Succeeding Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, he embraced the responsibility of preserving and strengthening the noble legacy established by Malaysia’s founding Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, and continued by successive leaders of PERKIM. Under his stewardship, PERKIM has further reinforced its commitment to Islamic outreach (da’wah), welfare, education, empowerment of Muslim converts (muallaf), sustainable waqf development and socio-economic progress for the Muslim community.
His unwavering dedication to unity, compassion, inclusivity and service continues to inspire confidence among Malaysians from all walks of life. His vision for strengthening Islamic institutions, promoting sustainable economic development and empowering future generations reflects a leadership founded upon wisdom, integrity and foresight.
On this meaningful occasion, we pray that Allah SWT continues to bless YAB with abundant mercy, excellent health, enduring strength, wisdom and divine guidance in carrying out his responsibilities. May He grant YAB continued success in leading Sarawak and PERKIM towards greater prosperity, harmony and excellence, while bringing lasting benefit to the people, the ummah and the nation.
