KUALA LUMPUR, 11 DECEMBER 2025 – A bilateral meeting between the World Islamic Call Society (WICS) and the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) today marked a significant step towards strengthening international cooperation in da’wah, education and community welfare, following an official courtesy visit by a Libyan delegation at PERKIM Headquarters.

The meeting, held at 2.30 pm in the Level 6 Meeting Room of the PERKIM Building, was warmly received by PERKIM’s Honorary Secretary-General, YBhg Datuk Dr Haji Mohamad Marzuki Mohamad Omar, who welcomed the WICS representatives and expressed hope that the long-standing ties between both organisations would be further enhanced to advance global da’wah efforts.

Accompanying the session were PERKIM Deputy President, YBhg Dr Haji Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah; YBhg Ustaz Haji Muhammad Fitri Abdullah; and YBhg Datuk Haji Mohd Nakhaie Haji Ahmad.

The WICS delegation was led by Dr Abobakar A.L. Trabolssi, together with Dr Jamal Ahmed Bashier Badi and Dr Abdul Karim Misbah, all of whom are prominent figures in da’wah and Islamic community development in Libya.

During discussions, both organisations concurred that strategic cooperation should be intensified through targeted programmes focusing on new Muslim development, Islamic education and welfare outreach for communities of diverse backgrounds.

New proposals were also presented, including the revival of the Libya Malaysia Development Investment Foundation Resources (LMDIFR) collaboration and the formulation of a joint venture roadmap between PERKIM and WICS for the coming years.

Among the key proposals was the Malaysia–Libya International Da’wah Conference, envisioned as a major platform for knowledge exchange, da’wah strategies and enhanced networking among regional scholars.

According to Dr Jamal, WICS is prepared to co-lead the organisation of the conference and proposed that a formal proposal paper be prepared for presentation during the next engagement session.

Discussions also touched on education cooperation, particularly opportunities for Malaysian students to pursue studies in Libya, especially in Arabic language and da’wah disciplines.

WICS further expressed readiness to sponsor tarawih imams to serve in Malaysia during the month of Ramadan as part of their ongoing da’wah initiatives.

The delegation also shared updates on their international da’wah operations, including developments at the Da’wah Institute in Turkiye, which now functions as an international reference centre.

PERKIM, in turn, conveyed interest in exploring training opportunities and expertise exchange through the institute to strengthen the competency of local da’wah practitioners.

WICS likewise expressed its intention to expand its presence in Malaysia through the establishment of an operational unit, activation of its official website and broader dissemination of da’wah materials in Arabic and English.

The Libyan delegates also extended an official invitation to PERKIM to visit Libya to observe the da’wah centres and educational facilities currently operating in the country.

The nearly two-hour meeting saw an in-depth exchange of ideas on long-term strategies, the implementation of high-impact projects and efforts to intensify cross-border da’wah collaboration in response to contemporary global challenges faced by Muslim communities.

Both parties concluded with a shared commitment that this strengthened relationship will serve as a key driver for deeper cooperation leading into 2026, particularly in expanding da’wah, welfare and educational initiatives for new Muslims and wider Islamic communities in Malaysia and Libya.

Also present were PERKIM National Administration Director, YBhg Dr Suariza @ Hidayah Muhammad; National Administration Executive, Ahmad Hasaidi Said; and Deputy Finance Executive I, Rahman Ismail.
