PETALING JAYA, APRIL 2, 2026 – The Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) today expressed its deepest condolences over the passing of Datin Hajah Fatimah Hashim, the wife of former PERKIM National Director of the Assets and Development Unit, Dato’ Haji Yidris Abdullah.

A PERKIM National delegation led by Administration Director, Dr Suariza @ Hidayah Muhammad, accompanied by Administrative Executive Ahmad Hasaidi Said and Finance Executive Mohd Aizat Rosli, was present to pay their final respects at the Kota Damansara Muslim Cemetery.

Also in attendance were International Dakwah Institute PERKIM Kuala Lumpur (IDIP-KL) Executive Zulkefli Arifin, along with PERKIM staff members Azura Abdul Rahman and Mohamad Fardly Johan.

Dato’ Haji Yidris Abdullah previously served as Director of the PERKIM National Assets and Development Unit, contributing significantly to the organisation from 2014 to 2023.

The atmosphere at the cemetery was sombre and filled with grief as more than 70 individuals, comprising family members, relatives, friends and acquaintances, gathered to bid their final farewell. Their presence reflected the deep bonds and affection shared throughout the late Datin Hajah Fatimah’s life.

Upon the delegation’s arrival, the deceased had already been laid to rest, and the talkin (final rites recitation) had been completed in a solemn and reflective setting.

Following the recitation, family members and close relatives were seen gathered around the grave in tears, scattering flower petals as a final tribute. Some gently poured water over the burial site, a symbolic gesture of enduring love, while continuously offering prayers for her soul to be placed among the righteous.

One of the most poignant moments was witnessed when her son, Nur Fahmy Dato’ Yidris, who had previously served as a former Assistant Development and Assets Officer of PERKIM National, appeared visibly grief-stricken at his mother’s graveside. He was seen holding the gravestone in deep sorrow, as though still struggling to come to terms with the loss of a beloved parent.

His expression reflected profound sadness, recalling the immeasurable sacrifices and love of a mother throughout her life.

Datin Hajah Fatimah Hashim, 78, passed away at her residence in SS2, Petaling Jaya, due to lung cancer.

Her remains were prepared at Masjid Aminah Al-Muhairi beginning at approximately 8.00am before funeral prayers were performed at around 9.00am. The body was later brought to the Kota Damansara Muslim Cemetery, Section 9, where she was laid to rest at about 9.30am.

In an emotional moment, Dato’ Haji Yidris Abdullah shared the final moments he spent with his wife, describing them as peaceful and eased.

According to him, in her final hours, the late Datin Hajah Fatimah requested to be guided in reciting the kalimah tayyibah, Lailaha illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah from the night until late morning.

He added that during the previous day’s congregational Asar prayers, she suddenly showed signs of impending passing shortly after completing the first rakaat.

“In that condition, she managed to utter ‘Allahuakbar’, while our children who were beside her briefly paused their prayers and continuously guided her to recite the syahadah,” he said.

“Alhamdulillah, her passing was very easy, peaceful and did not burden anyone,” he added, in a choked voice.

PERKIM National extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and prays that her soul be showered with mercy, forgiven of all sins and placed among the faithful and the righteous.

“May Allah forgive her, have mercy upon her, grant her peace and pardon her.”

May her family be granted strength, patience and resilience in facing this profound loss.
